WHY CAN’T I COMPILE ORDERS FROM EVERY DEPARTMENT IN ONE SHOPPING BASKET AND TAKE IT TO ONE CHECK OUT?

Because of the volume of data in this shop site, we had to split the department up into smaller groups. We were straying well beyond the software manufacturers parameters for optimum running speed on the Web, so by splitting the departments up into defined areas we took the load off of the shop’s ‘Search’ facilities, allowing both that and the department data to load at an acceptable speed.

WHY ARE THE DEPARTMENTS GROUPED TOGETHER IN THE WAY THEY ARE?

A lot of thought went into this before the splits were actually made. We have grouped together the genres that come closest to each other musically, in the hope that customers into one genre were most likely to be the ones that crossed over into one of the others to some degree. Obviously we also want to try to help customers bring most of their requirements to one check out if at all possible.
