SPACE-ROCK (PSYCH)

A successful super-group project masterminded by musician Don Falcone, who created the work by playing musical phrases and ideas onto a DAT tape, gave that tape to another musician, who added their part, and then he passed that on to someone else to add their bit, and so on, until he eventually they created an album with a list of participants that could hardly be more impressive! This stellar line-up of 17 superb tracks offers seventy-seven minutes of cohesive, flowing music, delivered to absolute perfection. Stylistically, it covers a wide amount of mostly instrumental ground, from space-rock, with nods toward prog, Krautrock, wild prog-fusion and chilled-out acid rock - virtually everything to make up a truly classy album that will have a massively wide appeal. Almost all the tracks possess a huge, solid sound, and a production that places them firmly in the more jamming side of space-rock. The whole thing is full to the brim with original ideas, inspired playing and superb execution, with editing, production and sound second to none. This is a consistent, enjoyable, brilliantly assembled and produced album that really does sound like each musician was present in the studio when the tracks were conceived.

In particular, you'll hear some truly outstanding guitar work, with some great spacey synths and on-fire rhythm section work from the likes of: Daevid Allen (Gong), Don Falcone (Spaceship Eyes), Paul Fox (Pressurehed, Nik Turner tour), K. Soren Bengtsson, Len Del Rio (Pressurehed, Spiral Realms, Anubian Lights, Zero Gravity), Tommy Grenas (Pressurehed, Anubian Lights, Farflung, The Brain), Mason Jones (Sub Arachnoid Space), Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Malcolm Mooney (Can), plus members of Darxtar, F/I, Melting Euphoria, Nemesis, Quarkspace, Trap and more on one of the greatest collected line-ups witnessed on any such space-rock album. Daevid Allen plays some uncharacteristically wild electric guitar on quite a few of the tracks, showing he can still play a mean lead. Overall, it is a loud, exciting space-rock style project that is so much more than it seems in a review like this. If you want to hear something fresh, different, melodic, rhythmic, exciting, powerful and invigorating – just go for this and indulge yourself in one awesome CD - A winner and no mistake!
