ANDEXELT (AN INSTRUMENTAL KING CRIMSON-CAN-NEU)

STYLE/LINK:KING CRIMSON

Powerful instrumental music heavily influenced by the likes of modern day King Crimson & Can, and what they end up with is a unique brand of prog meets Krautrock that’s riddled with explosive guitar riffs, rhythms and melodies. The whole steel-coated beast lumbers and drives through a set of 8 tracks that range from jazzy to prog in feel and influence, but with these genres at either end, the central factor shines through as a mix of psychedelic heady guitar jamming and full-on, furious Krautrock. It’s the sort of music that offers something new to find with each and every new airing, without becoming tiresome in the process. The end result is sixty-five minutes of music that is absolutely sure to give you a wild ride through some of the most scorching sounds that Circle have created to date.

Initially they tease us into this all-instrumental album that is dominated by searing modern King Crimson oriented guitar leads that just explode out of the airwaves. They open with a track so powerful it could move mountains – a hotbed of prog and Krautrock that just storms into life and has you feeling that if this is only the start, then the whole album is going to be an absolute killer! However, they rarely achieve this intense level of explosive power on the remaining tracks. That’s not to say the rest of the album isn’t powerful – it is, and then some in places – it’s just that they fired their finest shot right at the beginning, so take my advice – start on track 2, programming your CD machine to play track 1 right at the end, and bingo – maximum enjoyment is guaranteed!  For the rest of the album, it’s a surging hybrid of King Crimson and Can, with some incredibly strong riffs, rhythms and melodies, plus a fair degree of subtle repetition in the same way Can and Neu used it. This album is absolutely sure to give you a wild ride through some of the most scorching music you will have heard, with track 4 (‘Lisaapui’) achieving a level of intensity and power that you feel the likes of the more well-known aforementioned bands would die to achieve! This is a fantastic CD, and the best thing about it is; you can repeat play it as many times as you like and never tire of hearing what it has to offer.
