PROPHETS OF TIME

STYLE/LINK:HAWKWIND

An album recorded live in 1995 and featuring the ‘Space Ritual’ touring band, with assistance from Simon House, members of Pressurehead and Genesis P Orridge doing the old Moorcock - style narration bits. All the classic Hawkwind/space-rock elements are firmly consolidated into a superb set, featuring self-penned compositions as well as great renditions of the Hawkwind tracks: 'Watching The Grass Grow' and 'Children Of The Sun'. Overall, a simply stunning album and essential for all Hawkwind fans too.

SPHYNX

STYLE/LINK:HAWKWIND

No, not the old album from the mid 1970's, but a studio album that has Turner returning to the Hawkwind style of music for which he is justly most famous and at which he always excels. Recorded with American guitarist Helios Creed, the musical content features a stunning set of compositions full of powered-up guitar work in the classic space-rock vein, along with Turner's finest performances for a long time. It comes complete with a nod to the past, in the form of one of his solo flute pieces, and it’s a twenty-five minute bonus track that was recorded inside the Great Pyramid. An excellent space-rock album!
