NECROPOLIS
ELECTRONIC ROCK (INDUSTRIAL)The long- (and I mean “long”) awaited follow-up to 1995’s incendiary ‘Dominion’ album and I can now proudly proclaim that, not only were we the first and only outlet in the UK to champion the cause of this band when they first arrived on the scene, but we also stuck with them, leading up to an album that proves they are the greatest industrial metal band on the face of the planet right now! The power inherent in this disc is awesome, verging on nuclear force - Dark as Hades, black as night and so mind-numbingly heavy. It’s a bit like being a rabbit trapped in the headlights of an on-coming vehicle, as you sit there in front of your speakers transfixed to the sheer overwhelming musical terror that is being unleashed before you - A landscape that makes Motorhead sound tame in comparison and Devin Townsend like a walk in the park on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Here we are talking a power trio featuring vocals/programmer, electric guitar and drums, but if that makes you think the sound is more like traditional rock, then think again, because this is the real deal, with huge-sounding towers of wall-to-wall industrial rock that has as full a sound as they come, and 11 tracks that lay waste to everything that dares to stand in front of them. The vocals are low, buried and evil, the guitars rage and storm, the electronics and samples fill the sound out for miles around, while the drums thunder hard and thunder loud! Yet, somehow, the whole thing retains a structure – and a song structure at that, with real melodies, real riffs and, despite the crushing sound, a real sense of dynamics. The layers and textures thrust forward, and re-emerging all the time is this unbelievably, nightmarish heavy industrial rock that drives like a juggernaut through your head in an unstoppable fashion – but there’s no way you want it to stop – it’s a musical drug and you’re hooked, mate. The finest industrial rock album in the world... ever! – No argument!
